OOOH Bob, that's a big one! That's why it took you so long to get it in!

Hopefully you'll have no trouble handling it.

I suspect it'll produce some good stuff!

i cut the 510 connector on my 19b down till it is flush with the top cap. when i get a 7 mm x .5 bottoming tap and a arbor press i will push out the center pin and bushing from the 510 to make the hole deep so i can remover the design and chamfer from the top of the mod.

Sounds good. I tried sanding down my 510 connector on the 19b by hand. What a pigs ear I made of that. Still not managed to get the inside bit of the connector screwed out from underneath either (the bit with the spring on and the delrin) so have just given up on it for now. Guess having a lathe has benefits!

use the tip of a sharp knife to remove the bur and a can of compressed air to remove the grit form the sandpaper form the hole and your back in business mate ;D

Cheers Rocc, I'll give it a bash at some point. It's packed away in a box right now as I'm moving over next few days

It was getting the delrin out from under the head cap that foxed me. I think Ric or Mev said they used a dremel to cut into it so they could use a screwdriver on it. Anyways, it'll have to wait now until I get another chance

im in hopes of just pushing it out form the top side after i remove the center pin if i can that is. if i have to i will cut it out and just make a new one to replace it when i'am done with the top cap.

very, very nice lathe. good turn of phrase too - pmsl.

once you're in production, there may be a need for marketing those mods. and you have an excellent moniker to exloit: Rocc

maybe summat like "Roccam's Razor" - the mod that gets to the point.  or taglines like: "simplicity, gets improved" , "pursuing advanced simplicity" ,"simply. done." , etc.

Dunno. On the other hand  you might prefer to create "arcane" mods ...

Either way, that looks like a lovely piece of kit.

That's one nice looking lathe..... :D

Ilegal... it was the bottom pin I cut a slot in to remove it as it was stuck fast...  the top pin came out easily.

No worries, it might have been Ric then unless I got the wrong end of the stick

Yep, it was you Mev, I think you might have thought I was talking about the glued switch in the base of the mod? I was (and still am) having grief with the connector head brass/delrin etc:
