Title: Thinking about compiling o-ring database
Post by: a1laserboy on February 18, 2013, 06:40:46 PM
As I just had to spend a fortune on postage to get some Nautilus o-rings (well, added a few more spares too) - and I'm sure I payed over the odds for the rings themselves, I thought was it worth knocking up a list of o-rings for the most commonly used devices  out there with a view to making a bulk purchase or something from an actual o-ring supplier.......

Thoughts please.... :)

Actually, scratch that idea - i didn't realise there were so many very similar sizes, it's unlikely that someone could measure the exact size without a good set of vernier callipers.

Maybe I should have looked into it before going ahead and posting.

I work on heavy plant machinery and find that in my generic o ring kits I keep in my tool box there is always the size I need. I would say going to plumbing supplies shop or better still a hydraulic hose company such as Pirtek which is a massive national company with a shop in most towns is the best option. You would only need to take the original o rings or failing that the said device and they would sort you out for pence. I find you can buy a full o ring kit box comprising hundreds of rings for the price some vendors are charging for a kit comprising 3 or 4 o rings.
