To fit with the GG Proteus ...

"The Penelope will take 3ml of liquid and it will be at 47,5mm. Its very very small as I see it. I made a 18mm mouthpiece so the total length with the mouthpiece attached will be at 65,5mm"

It will sell out on the first day & be "out of stock" till the next GG gadget comes out. And so it goes "ad infinitum"...

yep. but the question is why does he allow this situation to happen every time?....is it bad judgement about the amount needed to satisfy demand?...is he scared of making too many and having them unsold?....maybe it's deliberate to make them rare and exclusive to enhance the desirability of them....who knows?.

Imeo has changed the size of the penelope from 2ml to 3ml

Post 402 quote
------------------------
"I made today a small modification to Penelope's cap and by increasing the length at about 2,5mm I manage to fit 1 more ml inside the tank. So Penelope will take 3ml of liquid. I think that its more than enough for a small cig. 2ml's were not enough for me."

Anyone know how this list thing is going to work?

According to the info on the list, the vendors will have access to the list. But obviously so does everyone else. So what is stopping Joe bloggs from contacting ecigz and saying he is someone on the list? :o

Title: Re: Penelope ...

it would be reasonably easy to stop Joe Bloggs nabbing the pre-orders.
just needs whoever mods the registration page to pm a code to each user.
then we give the code to release our individual penelope while paying.

i dont even want a specific serial number, just any would do.

Looks like they are taking per-orders already over at COV :)
It's only for the Penelope though as the Proteus is not ready. Not sure how it's gonna work to get both as the serial number is only on the Penelope? Anyone else know? :)
Title: Re: Penelope ...
Post by: funkybunch on June 07, 2012, 11:05:32 AM
The serial number will be on the proteus along with 'By Imeo' the Penelope will have the GG wings on it, according to a post I saw on an ecf P&P thread
Title: Re: Penelope ...
Post by: Irez on June 07, 2012, 11:12:26 AM
Sorry should of made that clearer :)
The pre-order is for Penelope Only as Proteus is not ready so what I mean is how is it going to work acquiring a Penelope if there is no serial number on it to reserve one?

Edit: 500th Post :)

I have obviously done masses of research on the p&p - not. Well I did check out some vids of Imeo with the Penelope but couldn't understand him.

So is the Penelope wick made the same way as we did the Oddyseus?

Can anyone remind me what wires we will need for the Penelope please.

Also, will 1mm wick work or has he come up with some thicker stuff we need to get.

Apologies for all the questions, but options seem to be watching a Greek make no sense via video or search through a million pages on ECF.

Cheers
Jim
Title: Re: Penelope ...
Post by: Fiona on June 14, 2012, 02:13:43 PM
Its all a load of Greek to me........  :D

By the looks of it its pretty much the same set up as the Oddy, with only a slight difference.  Still needs resistant and non resistant wire, and wick wise I didnt notice if he uses and extra piece on the top like the Oddy, but it looks quite dinky, so not sure. Might be worth using a bit of Bulli wick on top of a CE2 wick. But I wont know until I get mine and play about with it.

Also Imeo has some new wire out that has the non res and res wire already made up. So if you dont like to fiddle it might be handy. Not sure how expensive it would work out though.

Some of the others will have taken more notice than me :)) I'm sure they know more  :D

Its easier getting hold of Elvis than the 3mm stuff so it seems :)

The Proteus subject is interesting. Was reading something yesterday where Imeo said he doesn't even have a prototype finished yet.

Funny that pre orders are supposedly going to be in July. I'd bet they won't even be ready in time for vapefest.

shouldn't matter too much if it vapes anywhere close to the oddy and hopefully the body or mod will complete the end look and bring the set together nicely ...

nice one Scott, well what are your initial impressions.
Or shall we await your review.

Looks very nice on your provari :)

Cool....Does it vape as nice as the Oddy?

no difference in performance really, but i immediately preferred the new mouthpiece......its a little longer and thinner than the Oddy mouthpiece and feels a lot nicer

build quality is the usual high standard, the engraving looks really nice (though it feels quite rough to the touch, but more because the engraving is quite deep) and it doesn't make your mod top heavy

i think you will really like it Fi......not saying its feminine or anything, lol......just that its a lot lighter than the Oddy :)

the new combined wire will make things easier for a lot of people, but due to the fixed length of the resistance section you are limited to whatever resistance it gives you (but you can still make your wires up like on the Oddy if you wanted to make a higher / lower resistance etc)

the resistance section is pretty long and i ended up with about 8 or 9 coils which i thought would give me a very high resistance......but the wire must be a pretty high gauge as the resistance still came out at 1.6ohm which i find to vape great :)

cheers

scott

hi mate,

you get the Penelope, small bundle of the 3mm wick and 5 of the special pre joined wires (not counted them but it looks like 5, lol)

word of warning though, the wires are in a thin length of bubble wrap and could easily be discarded as scrap......double check before throwing in the bin! lol ;)

mine arrived! and built!

a couple of niggles, one of my nuts is a bit slack (ooer missus) so it doesn't trap the wire like it should, so atm i am coiling it around to secure it.
Also, i only got 1 premade wire (which i expected), maybe Mr Bonner is special so got more for free ;)

Vapes like a charm on my ego twist, very top heavy on this small device.

Also, did anyone notice from the video, despite saying that the channel acts as the terminal, he still seems to trap the wire between the base and the ring?
Title: Re: Penelope ...
Post by: itsmeitis on July 06, 2012, 05:32:14 PM
internals are same as new/revised/updated Oddy ... i prefered the old system ...
Oddy seems more substantial and so more worthy of its price tag ...
Penelope is good ... but not outstanding when compared to others.

glad i bought one ... definately a keeper ... the proteus could ultimately alter my end opinion.

Same as the Penelope. €90
Title: Re: Penelope ...

hmmm ... so if that remains and the proteus does surface, just short of £150 entirely for the combined two.

not too bad ...  :-\

I set it up exactly like the Oddy......trapped the wire, cut both wick ends to the same length in line with the bottom o-ring etc and it works fine

I couldn't understand what he cut the wire and wick at the same time and shorter on one side?
Title: Re: Penelope ...
Post by: ukric on July 06, 2012, 06:32:58 PM
No need to trap the wire between, works fine without, one less thing to do :)

Yeah I wasn't sure on that, can't imagine it would affect anything. I did it, but don't think that bit will make any difference.
Title: Penelope ...
Post by: igetcha on July 06, 2012, 06:36:10 PM
So you are just relying on the ring to hold it in place? Correct?
Title: Re: Penelope ...

Yep, s'working reet gud ;)
Title: Re: Penelope ...
Post by: funkybunch on July 06, 2012, 06:38:10 PM
I didn't trap the wire and it works fine, I think it is a little more fiddly with the smaller ceramic, but the externals are cleaner lines. I think that Ged has it right, the proteus will be the the key and how they work together.  :D

Yes Scott the ring holds it in place ;)
Title: Re: Penelope ...
Post by: faz099 on July 07, 2012, 03:39:07 AM
My ODY does not flood out when filling any longer --> after not trapping the negative wire under the ring.  Since the wire is bent over the metal side and has the "opportunity" to make contact all the way down i guess it is ok.

I didnt like that method of not having a solid connection but it does seem to work ok, i set up penelope the same way.

*note i think the pre made wires will have a percentage of failures at the point where it is forged together, mine broke on the first twist.  I made a standard coil as i did with ODY.  Also found that if you come up with a coil that Ohms out at 2.5 it will be about 2.8-2.9 after a little use.

I am trying to envision what you mean by not trapping the (-) wire under the ring ??? can someone post a pic of what your doing with the (-) on the ody ?
Title: Re: Penelope ...
Post by: faz099 on July 07, 2012, 04:31:01 AM
If you find Scott's video on the Odysseue review on Youtube ( http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0kZVFOA-X7c#ws (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0kZVFOA-X7c#ws) )
you will see it in great detail.

In the meantime:
When you run  the wire down the side with the metal (on the ODY v2 or Penelope) you wrap it around the threads between the base and that ring that the mouthpiece butts up against.

Title: Penelope ...
Post by: Capt12B on July 07, 2012, 05:29:22 AM
Hum... I have that vid burned into my memory ;D I build my ody virtually the same as Scott does and he has the (-) between the screw that the mouth piece butts up against and the base. I could wrap the (-) around the the inner body threads , but it would still be secured between the screw and body . Maybe I have a v1 ody Idk but it's the exact same as the one Scott is showing in his vid.

Mine came yesterday too, but just had time to set it up and have a go before I went to bed. Was cream crackered so went to bed after work, lol.

I set mine up without trapping the wire in the ring and cutting the wire and wick off shorter on the metal channel side and it worked a treat first time.

Made up my own coil with some .15 wire and it came out a bit high at 2.5 ohms but just cranked my provari up to 4.2 and it worked great.

I am loving that new 3mm wick that came with it. Wicks fantastic. Hope I get lucky and manage to get some of cams when he puts it up again. Missed out last time.

Vapour production is massive. Been practising my Vape rings, lol.

Man the quality of this is amazing. I got to have the GGTS or Proteus.

Now to do a lot of watching vids from scott because this is my first time making a wire and I got one shot at it haha.

Oh and anything I might need to know other then putting vaseline on the threads and such? Did any of you guys had to do that burning over a blue flame to get a soapy taste off?

Title: Re: Penelope ...
Post by: Dhred on July 07, 2012, 12:49:48 PM
As I said I almost failed when making my firts wire. I did broke mine also, but all I had to do was twist it together and make sure it did not contact the ceramic just incase.

Edit: and don't worry as scott said in his video it is really easy and you just need to get the hang of it.
Title: Re: Penelope ...
Post by: itsmeitis on July 07, 2012, 12:51:08 PM
@ Emmette ... if you do happen to snap/break the duo wire, you can still join the no resistance pieces to kanthal as in the Oddy tutorial ...

even if all does go well, keep the cut-offs from the no-res wire ... they'll work for your second coil too ...

Mines all made up but.....The metasl ring that is supposed to tighten to keep the positive wire in place only screws in to a certain point. It wont screw up tight..Leaving a gap...I have it working though.  The positive wire is wrapped round and tucked in between that slight gap.

What just made me laugh though, I was given a website to buy some 3mm wick in Greece. So I go on there and its 1 euro a metre including tax etc, which is fine.

It wont let me select a shipping option, so I email the store.

I get a reply back saying it will cost me 1.48 euro`s a metre.

Funny, charging us extra because they can.

The email address had Kalafan at the start. No wonder then, lol.

I`am starting to doubt my own sanity. Sure it said 3mm a few days ago. Now there are two types of wick at the "correct" prices  :-[

Terry is going to be getting some 3mm wick on ukv wire stores.

Wires.co.uk for the wire. 0.20mm Nickel wire and 0.15 or 0.16 Nickel Chrome wire.

Cotton wick works fine in Penelope.

I'm using this stuff at the moment...

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/10-Metre-Cotton-Braided-Candle-Wick-for-1-3-4-to-2-43mm-50mm-MBC-2-/290657103551?pt=UK_Carfts_Candle_SoapMaking_EH&hash=item43ac836ebf#ht_1289wt_936 (http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/10-Metre-Cotton-Braided-Candle-Wick-for-1-3-4-to-2-43mm-50mm-MBC-2-/290657103551?pt=UK_Carfts_Candle_SoapMaking_EH&hash=item43ac836ebf#ht_1289wt_936)

Boil it in pre-biled water for a bit before you use it, it doesn't wick so well without it.

Obviously don't dry burn it but other than that it's fine.

I'd imagine so yes. You might want to double it up or unravel some to add to your length of wick if that makes sense.

Not that I've seen but I can try to describe it.

You should have a thin large I ring and a thick large o ring.

Put the thick one inside the top cap.

Put the thin one over the base threads and slide it to the bottom.

You should have a ceramic. Put this inside the threaded ceramic holder.

There should be a centre post. Put the small solid plastic ring over the threaded section and slide to the plate.

Put the post, threaded side, through the hole in the ceramic holder. Put the locking but inside the ceramic. tighten.

Put the bottom circular knurled nut onto the other side of the centre pin. This may be tight. Use Vaseline or sumat.

put the remaining rubber o ring on the bottom of the centre pin, after the knurled nut.

when a coil has been made, insert the atomiser section into the base, be careful not to cross thread and tighten the larger knurled ring around the ceramic holder towards the base.

Put the mouthpiece on next. Then the body and finally the top cap. :)

I only send premade wires to my sellers . But if you want to make your own wires then you can buy nickel or silver wire at 0,2mm in width (for NR wire) and nichrome wire at 0,15mm in width (for R wire)

And a ss mesh of the penelope

The GG Clear extension I purchased (3 of them now) all develop a hairline fracture in the center of the window within 24 hours and spread out.  Never dropped, lightly tightened, all VG juices, no citrus etc... notified COV, but no response on the issue itself.  Is there someone else making clear windows FOR ody and penelope ?

Well so far so good  :)

some of the smaller threaded parts on the atty section are a little bit ruff to start of , but after a few screws on and off they seem to be quite a bit better

i have found it really easy to coil and set up and gives off a hell of a lot of vapour , will give you the ultimate verdict once ive had a good vape on it lol

Did anyone else with a stiff bottom nut notice that when you are rebuilding and you try and unscrew the nut that has the wire trapped, it unscrews the whole post  inside the ceramic and the bolt inside comes loose too. Even though you tightened the bolt well to begin with. It's easy enough to sort each time but it's a pain in the backside.

had the same problem until i read some tips on the GG forums, basically sorted by holding the nut steady with a screwdriver and using pliers to twist the center post really tight.
was worried that id crack the ceramic but was ok, but maybe wait until ceramic replacements are available if your worrried
