Title: Sigelei 8W & Sigelei Kick Group Buy
Post by: ukric on July 02, 2013, 11:58:21 PM
PLEASE READ ALL THIS BEFORE ADDING YOUR NAME TO THE LIST

First off.... I have taken note of the poll. It wasn't a waste of time, it's been used to gauge interest.

The reasons for buying what we are...

I know the supplier can deliver.
I know they'll be in time for Vapefest. This is the primary reason for doing another one so soon, so those who want to collect at vapefest can save a bit more on postage.

The next group buy I will be looking at a hybrid/genesis atomiser and something else.... When I've more time to contact new suppliers and spend a few weeks getting details ironed out.

So........ What are we buying?

http://www.alibaba.com/product-gs/1035704064/2013_wholesale_price_upgrated_version_sigelei.html (http://www.alibaba.com/product-gs/1035704064/2013_wholesale_price_upgrated_version_sigelei.html)

This will come with both the 18350 & 18650 tubes. It'll be the stainless & brass version.

&

http://www.alibaba.com/product-gs/934002532/factory_price_2013_sigelei_kick_by.html?s=p (http://www.alibaba.com/product-gs/934002532/factory_price_2013_sigelei_kick_by.html?s=p)

Where is it coming from?

China - The same contact that the S19b came from

If anything goes wrong with them, although they will replace them, it means putting together another group buy to get the replacements sent over. Don't put your name down if you'd expect an instant replacement or refund if it goes wrong. I'm not a vendor, and I'm not making anything out of this to fund any replacements.

The 8w is another mechanical mod, so not much to go wrong there.

The kick... well, it's electronic, more to go wrong, but the previous group buys done on these appear to have been fairly sucessful.

How will buying proceed?

There will be 50 x Kicks and 30 x 8w in the order. You're welcome to put your name down for more than one,  if you want more than one please tell me how many you want of each. You don't have to choose both.

Price

Please keep in mind these are estimates only based on the rates I have at the moment.

Kick - £10.53
8W - £23.94

I'll ask for payment as close to the date of payment as possible, this is so I can account, as far as possible for exchange rate fluctuations, both Paypals and HMRCs.

Payment is to be by Paypal, I'm not bothered whether you do it by Paypal Gift, or Paypal Protected, in fact, I'd suggest you take out their protected option, BUT the amount I receive MUST be the amount I quote as I'll need this to cover the buying of the item, VAT & Duty and postage to you, and again I'm making nowt from this, if you fail to pay the correct amount, the sale can't go ahead, this may disappoint others, and I won't be taking the blame if this happens.

Any postage will be in addition to the base price, the base price may change if Paypals conversion rate or HMRCs rate changes. I will let people know before asking for payment if this happens.

The List

Please reply withyour username, location, what you want. If you want to collect yours from me at vapefest please indicate VAPEFEST as your location. If you're picking up your item at vapefest then you will not need to pay postage.

e.g. ukric VAPEFEST 2x Kick 1x 8W

I will edit the list on the first page (master list)

In order to keep the thread a bit shorter, please don't copy the list, just write it in a post as per the example.

I don't tbh, I'd imagine 21-23 mm though since it takes 18 sized batteries. I can always ask if needed though?

If I knew for sure it was a 22mm mod then I would be more than likely to put my name down. but even if I miss it I'm not overly worried, I am sure there will be other opportunities for other mods in the future.

I am currently saving my pennies to get a matte nemesis when they become available again and was only thinking of getting this as a stopgap.

I think so yes. It says in the description that you can ask for them not to laser etch it when placing your order

I know my 19b is etched on the tube too

What do you do with the Kick? I had a look and it said it was a drop in device, does that mean I just drop it in somewhere or do I have to take something out first?

Post by: itsmeitis on July 04, 2013, 10:49:53 PM
you would use an 18500 with the kick Diane ... the overall would then reach 18650 8)

alternately, you'd use an 18350 and kick, which would assume the overall dimensions of an 18500 sized setup.

aside from that, it just sits on top of the battery and can be dropped in, or removed, very easily.

As far as I know it'll work, and that's what I'm buying it for. BUT not having tried it I can only say I expect it to work, and fit, I won't know for certain until it's received.

Let me know if you want me to put you down for one.

There is a brief description here -

http://vapourhut.com/mods/VHick (http://vapourhut.com/mods/VHick)

and a review here -

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2nc_YKaPf8s#ws (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2nc_YKaPf8s#ws)

In a nutshell I believe that you stick it in the mod tube. As it takes up a bit of space, an 18650 tube will accomodate the kick + 18500 battery. 18500 tube mode will take the kick + 18350. The mod in 18350 mode won't work with the kick because there isn't enough room left for a battery.

Note - I've just noticed a few replies as I was typing this out, but gonna post it anyway. :D

Thanks everyone.

Can you put me down for a Kick please Ric.

Sounds like you have to have the battery the right way round so I'm taking that to be the positive end at the atty and the Kick goes on top of the positive end. Glad they mentioned that bit for adjusting the VV as well. No doubt once I get it I'll be asking what way round it goes.

Hi Ric they say it's: "With stainless steel material  polish, two side with pure copper."

I know Segelei sometimes calls brass 'copper' but are the heads actually brass or copper plated brass or something else? And will it be polished up SS as opposed to brush finish do you know? I don't know if Segelei mean something different by "steel material polish" that's all

I just wish they did better photos so it was easier to work out!

Cheers bud

The touble with these is trying to sift through the information. They have that many adverts for the same thing all worded in Chinglish.

I'm expecting Stainless steel and Brass. Based on the various different adverts.

Before the final order is placed I'll be replying to the supplier in detail stating what we're expecting, stainles steel and brass. It's paid by paypal so there should be no problems. (And I'm very good at PPD ;) )

I'm expecting it to be as per the picture. Not polished. I'm gonna be polishing mine up though, the nice thing is they can be modified because they're cheap.

Cheers Ric, I get what you're saying, can't find anything definitive anywhere. Last question promise, are you sure it comes with both tubes - so each person gets one of each? On the site it seems to be saying you pick which battery size tube you want so we would have to decide 350 or 650 when ordering, but my Chinglish ain't so great  ;)

Glad someone asked the question about the circuit board thing.
I was wondering where you stick it and how you vape it.  ???
Dies this mean, that people are finding the 19B a bit weak or strong in terms of volts kick
when used without such a device?
Thanks,

All mech mods work best with low resistance coils because of the power range of the batteries, so if you only ever use really low res coils you wouldn't need one. The kick gives you the option of higher voltages for higher res coils basically.
Title: Re: Sigelei 8W & Sigelei Kick Group Buy
Post by: Capt12B on July 05, 2013, 03:27:40 PM
The kick simply turns a standard voltage device into a VW device I believe which can be very nice if you are running standard attys or cartos. I don't find my sigelei weak by any means and since I only run RBAs now a days I just set the coils for where I like at 3.7v. The kick goes inside the tube and sets between the bottom of the atty connection and the battery - that's why you use a shorter battery to accommodate the kick.

Thanks for the heads up.
Still waiting on imr batts for mine.
But the little test I did seemed to show my rebuilds
work fine with it as is. I also prefer to vape at low volt/power output.
Thanks again,

I asked Segelei a couple of weeks ago about whether you could use parts off one model on another (I was asking about 19a and 19b at the time) and they got back to me today and said that "yes, all our telescopic accessories are compatible"

These are their telescopes: http://www.sigelei.com/category.php?id=22 (http://www.sigelei.com/category.php?id=22)

I take this to mean that you would be able to swap parts between eg 19 and 8 models (not that you would want to necessarily, but it's options) and, that it's like if a kick fits a 19 then it'll fit an 8w too

Could be wrong, but seemed a reasonable interpretation so thought I'd mention

i recently bought a smok telescope mechanical mod from bargain vapour, the tubes and switches are compatible with the sig 19b too, not sure that is by design tho, but they fit, threads are the same,.

the switch from the smok mod works better with flat topped batteries, so i use a smok switch on my 19b with my old batteries, and used the sig 19b button on my smok mod, reason is the smok has a skirted 510 connection so works with a CE5 clearo, and have my bulli on my sig,

Glad someone asked the question about the circuit board thing.
I was wondering where you stick it and how you vape it.  ???
Dies this mean, that people are finding the 19B a bit weak or strong in terms of volts kick
when used without such a device?
Thanks,
Reb  8)
All mech mods work best with low resistance coils because of the power range of the batteries, so if you only ever use really low res coils you wouldn't need one. The kick gives you the option of higher voltages for higher res coils basically.

Does less wraps of the coil mean lower resistance? Also, if it does, doesn't that mean you're not getting as much burn on the wick given you've got less coils than say a 5 wrap around it, and so you'll get less vapour? I keep banging on about this resistance thing so sorry, I just don't seem to be able to get my head around it

Yes but you can use different wires to over come that, for example use thicker wire with more wraps. You can achieve the same resitance from .25 kanthal as you can from .16 you just need more of it, which also means more surface area and more vapour.

Thanks Mev, appreciate that. I'm just trying to work out whether I should get a kick or not. Thanks to replies here and in other threads I've been fumbling about in I've sussed that I need to do lower ohm coils on my atty using a mech mod but, I wondered whether it might be easier just getting the kick given (a) I like doing lots of wraps (b) I doubt I'll get more/different wire than the .2 Kanthal I have now at least for the time being, and (c) I'm getting an 8w and thought it might help boost the effect to what I'm getting off my Vamo on a higher res coil

What do you reckon?

Seriously though, I think I can sort out the low res/high res stuff easily enough. That's just learning curve. The main reason I've got it is that I think it might be like the evolv in that it provides short circuit protection and low voltage cut-out, which is something I think is worth having one for in itself

I emailed Segelei earlier on today asking them to confirm if they did - there's nothing in the description on their site and alibaba about it. Haven't seen any reviews or YouTube reviews mention this either so, for a tenner, it's worth a punt either way I reckon ;D

Title: Re: Sigelei 8W & Sigelei Kick Group Buy
Post by: ukric on July 10, 2013, 11:35:41 PM
Because it didn't start on UKV they prefer it not to be put in the group buys section, this is the same as AAEC, which is fine, but UKV being a lot bigger it does tend to get a bit lost. I considered rotating, start on ECR, then UKV first then AAEC first etc, just haven't done it yet.

Just wondered. UKV freaks me out a bit, it's hard to find where you are/were. AAEC seems a bit more manageable but I'm more familiar with proboards

Oh well, I wonder who the final two will be ... ... ... and here's hoping they hurry up!

Indeed, I'm as keen to get going as everyone else. What I intend to do when they come, if they're as they are in the pic, is polish one up, post comparison pics and if people wish polish them up for them before sending out. As always, this would depend on my skill as to how they turn out.

Good news

They're happy with 35 orders for the kick and 32 for the 8w

Bad news

They got the price slightly wrong on the 8w.... it's 2$ more per 8w. Disappointing but it works out about £1.30 on the base price extra

There's a battery rattle in 18350 mode, additional o ring needed I reckon.

Bit of a strange occurrence...

One of my AW 18350s works, the other doesn't. I think (more testing needed) that the screw at the top could do with being a tiny fraction longer, I'm talking less than 1mm.

Really nice weight to it.

The button is a little scratchy if not pressed straight, but does hit every time. Suspect needs to wear in a bit.

Spring is good, not too hard, but will stand on its own weight + full carto tank

The only other picky thing I'd like is for the bottom button edges to be a little rounded.

Good air flow

I'm not saying nothing bud, I still can't get the underside of my 19b out so I can adjust it - been doing my head in. Seems like it's plier proof of something or someone glued the delrin to the base of the head and the same with the brass fitting that goes into it

AND in my defence.... when i was unscrewing it, it was stuck as one peice, so every time I unscrewed it, it unscrewed the whole lot. Until I took it out and unscrewed one bit from another, now it moves freely
bbut it took a few pm's from me to convince you it did hehe :-*

I had a second 19b from the classies and that one was the same, in the end I ground a slot in the magnet with a dremel bit so I could use a screw driver on it.

@Ric...  have a look at Babz Media on ebay for envelopes they do some good deals on mail lite ones.

got mine 10-30 this morning, had it up and running 5 minutes later with a vivi nova on it. had to get some new wick and ribbon for my aga t2, wrapped a new coil and its now going to get some serious usage. see what you mean about the bottom button, it could do with being a bit more rounded, but apart from that, i think this is a nice piece of kit.
thanx ric and well done, looking forward to more group buys in the future.

yeah, i got battery rattle with the 18650 flat top, did the screw thingy and sorted it. srewed the screw fully in but still get a small gap on 18350,must be my nipple. dont want to tighten it any further cos being a bit blob handed ill just end up breaking the kick.flat top seems the way to go.

Got mine today, very pleased with. Bottom button spring very strong, can live with it, but considering stripping out button and fitting weaker spring.
?. How do you strip down the button firing switch, so I can get at spring. Tried to unscrew knurled pin in centre of switch and it`s solid ??
Any suggestions ,much appreciated.
Thanks.
Happy vaping everyone.

Compress the spring with some pliers or mole grips and torch on gas hob or blow torch, keep compressed until its completely cooled down, this should remove some of the tension :)

Do at your own risk ;)

Think a couple of people have asked this now, anyone know how to adjust the knurled nut in the firing button that touches onto the base of the battery?

Mine's stuck and my pliers are packed away  :( ANyone done it and sorted it? I just thought this might sort out the rattles whilst not losing atty connection - only tried 650 battery in mine yet and the set up only works with a vivi. Reducing the top screw seems to make the connection length necessary longer (although yep, it does hit the battery on the inside)

Orf to try some of the other batteries etc...

Brass 19e head fits/screws perfectly into 8w body. 19b and 19e bases also fit perfectly. Top cap on 8w has a 'sink' to the battery so straight swaps onto the 8w body won't work when a battery's in it even when the little screw is taken out of the 8w cap altogether, well, at least in 650 mode

Couple of pics attached. I reckon there might be some dinky mash-ups possible... maybe with a 500 and a kick + either or both ends of a 19e? Well, at least it will keep me busy and off here for a bit lol  ;)

Hi Fiona I think Jimmy's got what looks to be a cheap AGA S in Sales section

On the 8w - I'm liking it so far. It's seriously dinky in 350 mode. Good call all and especially Ric - getting it with both tubes is a result!

I've not tried the kick yet. Need to go watch a youtube video on them or something

Mod looks great.. Im using the telescopic part from the 19b to fit the kick with a 18350..

I think the kick turned on lowest.. is off.. so anyone wondering if its a dud.. its not.. turn it up a little..

Button seems to free up with some use.. not as stiff as it was last night..

All in all another great buy thanks Ric.. I will get you a pint a Vapefest..

Unfortunately my large envelopes haven't even though they shipped on Wednesday.

If those who haven't received theirs yet could be patient, I'll send them out as soon as the envelopes that'll fit them arrive :)

18500 batteries arrived today. Fitted Kick, tried it, looks well.
? How do you set up the Kick ?
? Turning screw clockwise increases power output ?
? How to check power setting on Kick?
? Do you remove Kick from mod when not in use ?

guesstimation :P

I just turned the screw fully one way and marked where a point of the screw lines up with a notch with a tiny dot of tippex

Then if I take each of the little notches on the top as being 1 watt, it gives me a rough idea of what level it's at when adjusting.

 Yep

? How to check power setting on Kick?

Set... Vape. Is it good? if yes leave it alone, if no change setting.

? Do you remove Kick from mod when not in use ?

No, take the battery out as its easier. I use it on my telescopic though, so I just unscrew it a bit.

I have just taken the 8w switch apart, I cut a slot into the head on the inside post so I could use a screw driver on it. It came out easily enough but it had been glued.

If you hold the switch down onto a desk (or something) pushing the switch down, the center post pops out enough to use an hacksaw to cut a slot into it.

Mev you were lucky, my pin sheared off, leaving the broken threaded part in the bottom button plate. `ffs`.

Got to get that out by drilling it and re-thread with a new brass screw .

Be very careful peeps that screw is GLUED in place, hope you have better luck than me changing that button spring.

It appears to be a well built mod, appeals to my aesthetics and kicks like a mule.

But that bottom button, how stiff is that? Time will tell if it will loosen off a bit, but perhaps I'm spoiled with the Gus/Paps combo and the Touchwood.

Thanks again Ric.

Cool :)

Reports suggest the spring does get easier after a few days use

Really liking this mod now  :)
After a few days use, the spring has gotten much easier to press, and I've put a bit of a chamfer on the bottom button to make it more comfortable

I also found if I use a Torchy 18650 button top battery upside down (doesn't fit the correct way up) I only have to press the switch a tiny bit before it hits  8)

Picked it up from the PO today and loving it already. This is my first time on a group buy, many thanks to ukric for making it a pleasant easy experience.
Watching avidly for what comes up next. Thanks again ric.

Does anyone else's battery rattle about in their 8w?

Does anyone else's battery rattle about in their 8w?

the way to sort that is to lengthen the little screw in the 510 connection, its adjustable and stops the battery rattle, the screw you see inside the end cap is actually a screw that is inside the 510 connector

Thanks ukric, I got a RM delivery yesterday of the Sig8W + kick.

I love the kick - works exactly as "it says on the box".

I like the Sig8W too, but that spring - it's a stiff bugger, isn't it?
I left the button overnight fully compressed under some dictionaries, but I believe I may have to change that spring, or release some of its tension under heat - for my specific needs.
(I have nasty arthritis which mainly affects my wrists and phalanges, and yesterday's mucking about with the Sig8W actually left my left hand, wrist and forearm in some pain. My problem, I know - nought to do with the Sig8W, per se, other than its spring...)

ps. (resigned lol). I've also discovered that, because of my disease, I am now the wrong size for bottom-button 18650 mods. There's no 18500 tube with this, so I either use it in 18350 mode, sans kick, (works fine, btw) or this one is destined to become another paperweight... :(

I'll message sigelei and if we do the next group buy with them.... ask them to make a 500 tube :)

wow. if they would, that'd be .... er... "fantabulastic".
(sorry. I meant: I'd be most pleased if they'd be so very kind as to make an 18500 tube for the Sig8W. xD )

Can't see em saying no. Only a case of making the same tube shorter than 18650 before putting threads on

bugger. I've been using the (sigelei?) "kick" from this group buy for ages, and it usually stops my battery from depleting below 2.8-ish volts.
Today, correctly grounded inside my sentinel clone, I found it allowed one of my IMR18350 to go down to 0.9v.

I am not happy. doubleplusungood.

anyone else observe this behaviour?

There's a single report of the kick not cutting out at low voltage.

Im not sure if this is someone with a faulty one or missing feature from it.

Just thought if pop it up here so ppl can be mindful.

This is posted a couple of pages back in this thread, it was somehting I'd seen on UKV, didn't appear to be that common when I searched for it after reading that I seem to remember

(this is new behaviour, btw. I have 2 smoktech kicks coming in ... "sometime".
I'll track this one more assiduously now.)

Has it affected the battery? Is it dead?
Title: Re: Sigelei 8W & Sigelei Kick Group Buy
Post by: zarf on September 25, 2013, 11:04:48 PM
no. it seemed to have recovered ok. i used the i4 to fast-charge it for half an hour, all by itself (not something I do with an 18350 cell on the i4 usually), then switched it to the i2 for a proper finishing...
(i2 is better for the 18350 cells, and a better charger overall, anyway)

Just a heads up for those who bought an 8W.

The 18500 tubes are stocked here

http://www.kernowvapes.co.uk/Sigelei_8w_18500_tube/p2086842_10478291.aspx

Found it whilst having a browse.

Out of stock, but might be worth checking when they'll have them back in.
