is the tip of your bottle making an air tight seal, you could just be building up pressure in the atty and that would explain the reason why the juice wont enter
use a hypodermic needle or a different bottle with a thin tip and see how you go.

Cheers bud, that's the weird thing it wasn't forming a seal - it's a metal hypo needle bottle so there's lots of room for air to come back out. I've just taken it all apart and this time it was a bit easier filling. I'll see how it goes

Don't know exactly why but I think it might be over-tightening the chimney inside - noticed when I loosened the top off (which rotated the chimney a bit) a tiny stream of bubbles came up from where the channels go under and into the chimney. Or maybe I've now flooded it lol  :D

Hi Gaz, if you're still getting updates on this - yes, it seemed to be the chimney being over-tightened. Also, I found holding the needle pretty vertical to the base seemed to help a bit but that could have just been my imagination. Maybe this is why some of the videos talk about not letting the wool all the way down the channel - so air can push through a little and release pressure through the chimney

Anyway, who knows but it seems a bit better now :)
