Rail companies ban e-cigarettes from trains and stations
« on: August 11, 2013, 02:29:02 PM »

Rail companies have banned e-cigarettes from their trains and stations, saying people using them make other travellers feel “uneasy”.

If the station is covered and inside I agree.... if like Bradford there is a platform which is open air I disagree.

"people using them make other travellers feel uneasy" - gotta say - having read numerous examples - seems very fair, proportionate, and just.

My brother works for South Eastern trains and people are allowed to use them on the platforms but not on the trains but here is the best bit........South Eastern train drivers are allowed to use them while driving those trains.

again - so long as the driver aint intent on inflicting his/her vapour upon other passengers, then it shouldn't need to become a concern.

"Amanda Standford, a spokesman for the antismoking group ASH described the ban as “unhelpful” and warned that it could drive many people trying to kick the habit with the fake cigarettes back to tobacco use."

what a load of old tosh - not as if those discouraged from vaping on a train, in a taxi, or in wetherspoons are able to instead light up a fag.

They have been banned at both of the train stations in my Town for a while now and both are open air platforms.....As I told someone yesterday, every company and business have the right to decide if they allow vaping or not and we have to respect that....And its nothing we can change.

In Croydon they have tram stops that form part of the actual pathway and there is no way round them and they have a strict no smoking policy on those stops so if you want to smoke or vape while walking along the street but don't even want to use the tram you have to not smoke when walking along the platform bit even though its part of the path, its bloody stupid.

Amanda Standford, spokesman for the antismoking group ASH, would have us believe that tram stop in Croyden is where a majority of UK smokers begin their take-up of a lifes long dirty habit.

OMG - you edited it to add another pic - and look - Amanda Standford, spokesman for the antismoking group ASH might have been correct - the young lady at the front of que, appears to have begun smoking :o

I've stood on that platform and vaped for the last 6 weeks and only been asked to stop doing it once, only other time i was told i couldn't vape on the tram was when i was actually stood outside the bloody tram stop ON A PUBLIC FOOTPATH at Beckenham Junction Station lol

I have been standing there and watched other people just trying to get past the tramstop itself getting told to not smoke even though they didn't even want to get a tram but had no other way of getting to where they wanted to be without walking through it.

If you hold your mod to your mouth but don't press the button... what then? It looks like you're vaping, but in fact you're not.

I think they might have a meltdown trying to understand haha

you cant get to the other side of the road mate lol

good luck with that lmao

to get from that office on the left to say Greggs 50 yards up the road you would have to travel about 800 yards if you wanted to go another way round
