Ekowool is a woven silica that is hollow in the middle rather than twisted like regular silica wick. I got some 3mm of each the other day and it looks to be much fatter than the regular though.

http://www.vape-atomizer-mesh.com/products/Ekowool.html is where I got mine.

I just recoiled my protank head. Used 2mm ekowool and 5 wraps 0.3x0.1mm  ribbon kanthal. Comes in at 2 ohms. The beauty of ekowool is that its hollow, i put a straightened out paperclip inside it and dont take it out until ive totally finished coiling it.

Took me ages to realise why i was getting a burnt taste, i flame the wick that i wrap the coil around but never think to do the flavour wicks. Took a perfectly good coil apart earlier expecting the rubber grommet to be burnt but there wasnt a mark on it. Carefully put it back together and flamed flavour wick. Problem solved. :)

Sorry mate I haven't tried this yet but, do you mean you flamed the whole of the ekowool or whatever it is? The full length?
Yeah, i torch silica or ekowool the same as i woiuld do mesh. For 1 reason it makes it a lot stiffer adn when you snip exess it come off in 1 piece instead of strands. Ekowool is bad for fraying if you dont torch it first. Combine ekowool with ribbon and it performs better than the stock coil. Flavour is far better too.

Well bob, I have to say I didn't know that about torching ekowool - I'll give it a bash next time. Have just used it as it is so far. Cheers
