Got some good news today
« on: June 12, 2013, 06:10:31 PM »
I was diagnosed with Chronic obstructive pulmonary disease about 18 months ago after a nasty chest infection which made me very ill, I could hardly walk up the stairs in one go and unable to stand long enough to wait for the kettle to boil, even after the chest infection cleared my chest didn't improve that much, I spent the first 1-2 hours after getting up coughing and coughing  so much that my ribs and back got sore and at times made me throw up, but yet kept on smoking ...I did cut down with little effect and could only manage 2-3 weeks on NRT's, things were looking quite grim the lung function test showed my COPD fell into the Severe category and the machine said I had the lung age of a 105 year old man, which for a guy of 42 didn't sound to good for the long-term.

I then discovered Ecigs and haven't looked back!  today 16 or so months later I went to see my respiratory nurse  for a check up and she repeated the Spirometry test she was very happy at the improvements to my chest, my condition has now been downgraded to Moderate and my lung age has dropped to 74.  ;D

I know how you feel. I was turtling the other day and someone else was in the bog, I couldn't walk up the stairs either. I don't think people truly appreciate these things until they have been there themselves.

I can't stand long enough for my Kettle to boil either. It was from Argos though. I think I need an upgrade.

..how many 105 year old men has that machine looked at before anyhow? Was it made in China?

..all that is in jest of course, glad it's working out for you and you are healthier as a result :P
