It's quite confusing like I said when I fire it only the first coil glows then I spread them out and it says low ohms and doesn't fire, but as soon as I play with the coils again it fires once again.

yep ... it will ... its shorting.

with this in mind, i expect you have tiny threads of the SS mesh causing the problem ... you could either roll a new wick and be sure to fold in the edge to eradicate any stray threads, or simply adjust the coil a fair bit until it isn't finding a short ...

yeah mine was harsh too then i noticed the air hole doesn't line up with the wick properly. unscrewed it a bit and its much better. its why the others use o rings i guess.

yep .. the airhole alignment is important with the genesis atomisers ... if your air hole isn't inline with your wick, then do as elyak suggested and wind the top-cap back a touch until it is ... you can later make this permanent by sanding the top-cap back a tad ...

they do tend to "bed in" with use, yes ... seeing as its your first successful build, it'll be best to keep on with it while its working ... if you do feel its much too harsh, or it exhibits unusually low numbers for resistance, then you should attempt to adjust it ... other than that, if it aint quite broke, don't fix it ...
