have you anything else you could try it on ?

also, is it possible you may be pulling the coil tight around the wick, and in effect choking it ?

I have some Riva batteries, can give them a go.

Too tight, that could be it, like I say first time doing them so don't know what is classed as tight or loose, any easy way to tell or is it just practice ?

ideally, the coil should embrace the wick but not too snug as to close the opportunity for juice to soak and flow through it.

this video may help you out a lot ... at around 3 mins into this vid, you'll see Scott demonstrating how to wrap a coil ... notice here, he uses a panel pin, which acts as both a splint and spacer ...
i expect this way will offer best result for a newcomers introduction to coil wrapping.

Also don't forget as Scott said, this thing gives amazing flavour, could be your tasting your juice on level you never have before.

Just a thought, don't give up though, all
rebuildables have a learning curve, I have had my fair share of probs with the Orion, AC9, Line V2 and Cobra just to mention a few.

Longevity is a reward.

Stick with it you will get there.

And remember have fun.

Good luck  :D

Wow! That worked perfect for me! 4 wick strands and loser coiling. Got 3 ohms.

Good luck with yours Tiggggger :)

itsmeitis: thanks for the video, will give that idea a try tomorrow, presume that you wrap it tight with the pin in then once removed it'll be loose enough

pwmp44: It's definately not the smell of mint or menthol, will keep at it though

a1laserboy: I'm encouraged that it worked for you :)

Sorry i could not get back earlier...guys...had visitors...also i find if you use a needle or syringe to loosen up the inside of the wick it helps the capillery action of the wick...as itsme has pointed out the coils may be too tight around the wick...

i didnt use a pin, was just careful to wrap it lose, cut the wick to the edge of the body and made sure no coils were overlapping oh and 4 wicks, not 2

Must say that Scotts spheroid vid showed him wrapping tight, so thats what I did.

You'll be ok Tigggger - good light where you are working is important - as is being sober........ perhaps my two downfalls on my previous attempts :P

It is well worth it once sorted!

Some of the wicks are treated to keep the strants together. I usually boil my wick for about 10 mins then I torch it untill it glows. The wick will usually get black first but will get white after about 5 sec of glowing. The black stuff is the stuff which it is treated with. Finaly I soak my wick in some e-liquid and burn it off. The flavour will so comme straight away.

Instead of putting the wick on top of the posts, put them between the posts but with the coil still over the airhole. If you put the wick on top of the posts, you can cause a short where the coils are touching the metal mushroom piece of the attie. That wouldn't taste very nice.

Rapidly running out of wire and wick, so just ordered some more, think I've got 2 more goes left :)

Tried the suggestion of 4 wicks, wrapped it with a paperclip inserted, its probably too thin but was all I had around and made an effort not to wrap as tightly.

Didn't try and move the coil over the top of the posts this time but made sure it was still over the airhole as suggested above. Found that the section of wire between the posts and the wick was glowing red immediately on firing so I presume this is what is meant by hotspot, tried tweaking it around but nothing seemed to help, what is causing it and what is the cure.

Needless to say the familiar awful smell was there but thinking about it logically I've had this smell everytime and this is the first coil that glowed so it must be burning wick. Gonna try boiling the wick as suggested above and see if that helps and try and wrap it even looser next time.
