Very nice Scott. I have 32 kanthal would you recommend twisting that for a coil and if so how many wraps would you suggest ?

hi mate,

in that picture i posted i am using 0.20 kanthal which i believe is the same as what is known as 32 AWG in the USA.....correct?

if so, then it should be fine to twist but just bare in mind that it will give you a very low resistance so you might need to wind a few extra coils. in the pic im using a 3 / 2 wrap which is giving me a 1.1 ohm resistance, but the wick is very, very thick on the AC9.......a 3 / 2 wrap on a Cobra wick (for example) would give a much lower resistance as the wick is thinner (which means that the overal length of the wire will be shorter than the what im using on the AC9)

Thanks Scott,  I may try that out on my DID ;D

Update :  did a 5/4 wrap of 32 kanthal twist on the DID - 0.8 ohms so it won't fire on the gripper but running strong on the LT at 3.2v. Bonus - not one hotspot ;D
