Also, did anyone notice from the video, despite saying that the channel acts as the terminal, he still seems to trap the wire between the base and the ring?

internals are same as new/revised/updated Oddy ... i prefered the old system ...
Oddy seems more substantial and so more worthy of its price tag ...
Penelope is good ... but not outstanding when compared to others.

glad i bought one ... definately a keeper ... the proteus could ultimately alter my end opinion.

hmmm ... so if that remains and the proteus does surface, just short of £150 entirely for the combined two.

not too bad ...  :-\

I set it up exactly like the Oddy......trapped the wire, cut both wick ends to the same length in line with the bottom o-ring etc and it works fine

I couldn't understand what he cut the wire and wick at the same time and shorter on one side?

No need to trap the wire between, works fine without, one less thing to do :)

Yeah I wasn't sure on that, can't imagine it would affect anything. I did it, but don't think that bit will make any difference.

So you are just relying on the ring to hold it in place? Correct?

I didn't trap the wire and it works fine, I think it is a little more fiddly with the smaller ceramic, but the externals are cleaner lines. I think that Ged has it right, the proteus will be the the key and how they work together.  :D

Yes Scott the ring holds it in place ;)

My ODY does not flood out when filling any longer --> after not trapping the negative wire under the ring.  Since the wire is bent over the metal side and has the "opportunity" to make contact all the way down i guess it is ok.

I didnt like that method of not having a solid connection but it does seem to work ok, i set up penelope the same way.

*note i think the pre made wires will have a percentage of failures at the point where it is forged together, mine broke on the first twist.  I made a standard coil as i did with ODY.  Also found that if you come up with a coil that Ohms out at 2.5 it will be about 2.8-2.9 after a little use.

I am trying to envision what you mean by not trapping the (-) wire under the ring ??? can someone post a pic of what your doing with the (-) on the ody ?

If you find Scott's video on the Odysseue review on Youtube ( )
you will see it in great detail.

In the meantime:
When you run  the wire down the side with the metal (on the ODY v2 or Penelope) you wrap it around the threads between the base and that ring that the mouthpiece butts up against.

Hum... I have that vid burned into my memory ;D I build my ody virtually the same as Scott does and he has the (-) between the screw that the mouth piece butts up against and the base. I could wrap the (-) around the the inner body threads , but it would still be secured between the screw and body . Maybe I have a v1 ody Idk but it's the exact same as the one Scott is showing in his vid.
