Self Piercing Saddle Valve Issues!! HELP!
« on: February 09, 2012, 06:26:28 PM »

So i bought a self piercing saddle valve for carto hole punching. Got a couple questions/issues hopefully you guys and gals can help me with!

1. Are there different sizes? Like as far as the pin that actually punches?
2. The reason im asking about size is because if i feel like i have to punch the pin pretty far into the carto and it seems like i am puncturing the center plastic tube in the middle of the carto.

I think the plastic is getting punctured because when i punch a couple holes in a carto and fill my tank with that carto in there, i inhale and its gurgling like there's liquid in the center plastic piece. So i take the tank off and i blow on the drip tip and liquid spits out! I can do this until my tank is empty!!! That's not normal right, i mean the plastic HAS to be broken for that to happen.

3. How big do the holes need to be? I am vaping diluted 100% VG.

4. How do you know when to stop twisting the carto punch?

5. Is there an easier way to line up the carto, im having a hell of a time with it!

Very grateful for any insight on this issue.

nothing to stop you making two or even three small holes.
avoid damage to the centre. infact avoid even disruption to the centre.

always pre-fill the carto prior to inserting in the tank, and blow it out gently to clear the central airflow.
condom method is usually best way to pre-fill cartos.

So what you're saying is make 3 small holes to avoid pushing through to the center? That would probably work i suppose.

Any other advise on the other questions?

Thanks

When you make a hole.....you screw slowly and you'll hear and feel it pierce...As soon as you hear/feel it pierce that's enough....turn it round and do the other side...  ;D

I'm going to try it as soon as my boges get here from libertyflights.

Also, im noticing something else strange. When i just use a carto attached to me PV, it seems to pop every once in a while. I can feel it vibrate on my lips when it pops too. I didn't think much of it but i noticed that my e-liquid started leaking out the bottom! I think i am cracking the plastic tube inside, anyone else have this issue?

Its natural for cartomizers to crackle and pop....... But before you use the carto after filling, put some tissue/kleenex under the bottom/connector end, give it a light blow down from the top and if theres any excess liquid in the carto it'll come out on the tissue. Give the bottom a wipe and then screw onto your device.

I try to do this but if i keep blowing, all my e-liquid comes out. I didn't think that could happen unless there's a hole in the center piece? Very strange, we'll see if the new boges do it.

another thing to watch for is any sign of compromise of the the polycarb tubing of the lil mama.
it would be very unlikely to have that occur yet, but if that does happen then you'll notice the system drop liquid.
when mine first failed, i noticed leaks much quicker than noticing the tiny cracks appearing in the polycarb.

Thanks all. I F'ING love you!!!!

Got another n00b question.

When you have a full tank and you take your drip tip off, should the "cotton" look wet or full of liquid?
