Ozzy Ody …
« on: January 17, 2012, 11:10:55 PM »

I thought I might have been lucky and these may be the new batch without the soapy taste (I couldn’t smell anything), so I cleaned and set up the Odysseus, a breeze thanks to Scott’s video … Bad Idea!  :o

It vapes fantastically well and there is indeed plenty of flavour, however, that soap taste is rank!!

Oh well, now to take it apart again and try to get the ceramic out and back in without damaging it …

If you got one from OZ, make sure you torch the ceramic first!  ;-)

I've just been stripping down some CAT6 network wire for just this reason, don't wanna waste my wire that comes with it on holding it over a flame

Tourch or don't tourch  ???
Im afraid I will finally get my oddy only to then mess up the little wire I have and break my ceramic .... curious if anyone has found they can vape the oddy long enough to have the oddy soap characteristics vanish on its own.   I am a stuborn chap and have vaped pleanty of foul juice experiments gone wrong just to avoid being wastefull :P

Trust me Capt, you won’t want to vape that soap! ;D
(the taste stays with you for a long time!)

I am debating using forceps or something similar to hold it to the flame …

Paper clips + forceps is probably the way to go, thanks Fiona! :)

Thats the thing I`am most worried about. Having to take the ceramic off to sort the soapy thing out.

Thats the only thing with Scotts vids, he makes things seem so blummin` easy. No doubt in my mind I`ll end up cream crackering the thing.

Lets all take our Oddy`s round to his house when they show up. Form an orderley queue  :D

Mine has just arrived :P

Think I`am going to wait until my Provari comes before I use it though so I can see what resistance my coils are.

It does stink of soap though.

Happy that yours arrived ;D

Getting the ceramic out is ok, just be a little carefull when pulling it out of the metal part, it might be a little snug.

In the end, I used a bit of wire from inside a cable tie and a pair of pliers. I didn’t do this last night as it was too late...

I was worried about damage getting the ceramic out and back in, however, I don’t know if it’s because it was left in juice overnight but once I got the screw off, it came out very easily (no force or wiggling required at all) … after burning, cleaning ect, it went back in just as easily :)

I am not sure if others have struggled to get the ceramic out but if so, it may be an idea to soak that part in vg or pg before removing the ceramic. The way mine came out, there is no way I could have damaged it ;-)

Thanks for the tip BB, I will muster the courage to give that a go. I think I will order a back up ceramics when they become available as well as they seem to be dirt cheap ;D

Yep, I will order a spare (or 2) as well … Forgot to say I gave the ceramic a coat of VG before putting it back in BTW and then a Vodka bath ;D
