Vaping and the Police update
« on: July 27, 2011, 08:41:53 PM »

Hi All,
I had my meeting with the Police inspector, and very interesting it was for both of us.
I took along my GD mod,Riva,Don,an old disposable e cig and my epipe mod Pipe, to show the various types of PV an officer might encounter on the beat in the town.
Now I was a little surprised that, though she had heard of electronic cigarettes, she had never actually seen one,and certainly had no idea that there was so much variation especially a modified e cig.
She obviously was never going to apologise to me for the incident, but assured me that she would "educate" all her officers, and community support staff, so such an incident would not happen again.
She then called in a Sergeant who came in with a box of confiscated items that had been seized in connection with drug taking in the Town, I was amazed at the devices in that box. There were at least three that had been torches in a previous life, along with small butane burners that had a close resemblance to the Don I took to show them!!
I can now see their side as much as they now see mine.Perhaps we assume that everybody knows what we are doing, when to some, it must look strange to see someone on a bench, sucking on a battery box and what looks like smoke coming out.
I was very happy with the outcome of the meeting and feel that both sides learned something.
I now have the full support of the local constabulary to Vape in Peace! :D

Thanks for that....It sounds like it went really well, great work....I wonder how many other police officers have confiscated an e-cig!

Are you officially the e-cig liaison officer?  ;)

Well done a good read, every little helps education is the key, must be awkward for the police bit like me visited a friend today who had marijuana plants mixed in with his tomato plants

well done and thanks for posting the update.

it was good of them to demonstrate their array of seizures to you emphasize the difficulties caused by relying on their previous tutors.
imagine the consequences of buying baking powder or plastercine based on similar assumptions.

that aside, you seem to have come away happy so thats a possitive outcome. vape on dude and cheers again for the post.

Nsteven, that was a really great post! Took the initiative and turned what could have easily become a very negative experience into a very positive one in which you can now use a PV in your area without being self-conscious of the police :) Kudos!

It just seemed to start with 'I had my meeting with the Police inspector,, ,' thus making me curious and ask if someone got hassled.

Obviously, since noticed this convo began  in 'another post'

:-)

I was recently walking through my neighborhood  from my house to my inlaws, while vaping on my SB with an Arry tank and I seemed to draw the attention of a local deputy. He drove past me 3 times,  slowing to carefully watch me as I vaped away and stared back at him. I was waiting for him to stop me,  but he decided to move on  :P lol
